Slickrock Bike Trail

Check Out The Unbelievable Mountain Biking In Moab

Moab sports some of the most spectacular and challenging mountain biking anywhere. Porcupine Rim and Slickrock are on the top of the list of rides that made Moab famous. But don’t forget some of the great rides that are off the beaten path like the inspiring slickrock riding out at Bartlett Wash. New mountain bike trails are being developed …ask us about the new Intrepid Trail at Dead Horse Point S.P., the Salt Wash Singletrack and the M.O.A.B Brand Trails!

Never Tried This Mountain Biking Thing Before?

Klondike Bluffs and the Bar-M Loop will get you out for some great riding and spectacular views.  Don’t forget to hop on Porcupine Shuttle which leaves every morning for the Moab epic known as ‘The Whole Enchilada’.  Check out our online store for maps and trails guides.

Easy Rides

INTREPID TRAIL: New in 2009, this trail is flat, easy, and incredibly scenic! The Big Chief Loop is 9 miles with shorter cut-offs. This is a perfect ride for the whole family. Don’t forget your camera!

KLONDIKE BLUFFS: Super fun slickrock riding, Dinosaur tracks. Moderate riding. This is a great introduction to Moab riding. Check out the super views into Arches at the turn around point of the ride. Check out “Baby Steps” the new single track in the Klondike Bluffs area. It’s a fun addition to a classic Moab ride.

BAR M LOOP: Relatively close to town, the Bar M Loop is an 8 mile trail on easy double track just outside of Arches National Park. If you’re looking for some more challenging, intermediate riding while you’re out there, keep an eye out for the Bar B, Rockin’ A and Circle O trails.

Intermediate Rides

POISON SPIDER MESA: Sand and “slickrock”, awesome views. This ride is considered intermediate as an out and back. For more extreme excitement come down the Portal Trail singletrack to make the ride a loop.

FISHER MESA SINGLETRACK: Yippee! Winding, fast singletrack with great views of the Fisher Valley . Some technical sections.

SOVEREIGN SINGLETRACK: Brand new desert singletrack. We love this ride! Rocks, ledges, sand. Moderately technical and totally fun. Winding, fast singletrack spiced with some climbs and some slickrock riding. Killer Views of the La Sals. Be sure to stay on the trail… this ride has lots of healthy crypto-biotic soil- fragile desert top soil that looks a whole lot better with no tire tracks through it!

Advanced/Expert Rides

AMASABACK: This is Moab locals favorite for good reason. Amasaback has it all … This trail features ledges and dirt and “slickrock” riding with fantastic views. Ride it right from the shop with a scenic warm-up out Kane Creek Road.

SLICKROCK: People come from all over to try the world famous Slickrock Trail. It’s smooth and steep with natural bowls. Grippy sandstone allows you to try really steep moves. Freestylers love the natural half pipes and “kickers”. This unique ride put Moab at the forefront of the mountain biking scene.

PORCUPINE RIM: Show of hands, please. How many of you out there call this your favorite ride of all time? It’s fun, fun and more fun. A little ledgy climbing and loads of technical descending. It’s classic Moab riding. Shuttles available from Poison Spider Bikes daily throughout the season.

FLAT PASS: Ledges, dirt, water, and rocks.  A “cornucopia” ride, lots of varied terrain.

This is just the tip of the iceberg when it comes to mountain biking in Moab, and the ratings will vary depending on the rider, and your own local terrain.
